Stephen Lloyd Auslender’s “The Streamlined Locomotive” Was Showcased at the 2023 Hong Kong Book Fair

Stephen Lloyd Auslender’s “The Streamlined Locomotive” told its tale at the 2023 Hong Kong Book Fair. The book event was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong, on July 19-25, 2023.

The book display for Auslender’s “The Streamlined Locomotive” was made possible by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet. “The Streamlined Locomotive” tells the story of an indolent and irresponsible scion of a wealthy family – Theopolis P. Bezelbottom. Theo comes from a family of old-fashioned robber barons and industry leaders. Having a wealthy status, Theo only does as little as possible to maintain the common-law wife, children, and girlfriends in an easygoing life. He expects to inherit good wealth from his family, including the control of Hawgwaller County in Appalachia and one of its major railroads.

However, the patriarch and boss of the family, Uncle Throckmorton P. Bezelbottom, expects him to contribute to the family first. He wants Theo to have an active responsibility. His uncle Aloysius P. Bezelbottom also fully expects Theo to come up with a streamlined steam engine for the two-bit third-rate feeder railroad the county operates.

If Theo cannot fulfill the expectations his uncles set for him, he will lose his wealth and favored position in the family. On top of this, he will also be drafted into the army just as World War II is about to break out.

Author’s Biography

Stephen Lloyd Auslender studied Industrial Design (B.S. Degree) and went on to express his surrealist visions in Sculpture (M.F.A. Degree). He holds a Doctorate in Creative Arts (Ph.D.). Over the past fifty-plus years, he has taught and worked in Mechanical Design and Sculpture. His view of life is a combination of comedy and tragedy. He has retired from the Mechanical Design and Educational Fields and is presently sculpting and writing.
