Dr. Gentre Garmon Reflects On 35 Years as Pastor in Book Soon to Exhibit at the Printers Row Lit Fest 2023

For the city of Chicago, the Printers Row Lit Fest is an opportunity to look back on its own part in America’s publishing and literary history. It makes sense then that many of the books that will be on display during the event include memoirs and reflections by new authors eager to share their thoughts with the world. Dr. Gentre L. The Printers Row Lit Fest is a celebration of Chicago’s past as a publishing and literary launch point. Hence, it’s fitting that it will be exhibiting plenty of books looking back on history by authors who had directly witnessed it.

Among these is Dr. Gentre L. Garmon, a recently published author who debut non-fiction work details over 30 years serving his church and disenfranchised members of society. His book “Thrifty Thoughts For The Day” was written with the intention to inspire.

Dr. Garmon is a pastor at the Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo. As a man of faith, he has spent all his time reflecting on God’s constant influence in the world. It’s why, with his book’s central theme, he hopes to provoke readers to do the same in many areas of their life. Much of its content covers many subject, such as wisdom, freedom, discipleship, and even parenting.

Garmon originally planned to just distribute his book among his parishioners. But after further reflection and wanting to better show his trust in God, he decided to go the extra mile of publishing it.

Many of the ideas he shared come from a wealth of experience. Asides from being a pastor, he has done extensive work as an educator, supervisor, and public health social worker. He’s been on the board of directors for a local crisis services agency as well the Synergy Organization.

Dr. Gentre L. Garmon has served as the pastor of the Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo for 35 years. The author has also worked as an educator, public health social worker, and supervisor. He served on the board of directors of the local Crisis Services Agency, a member of the board of directors of the Synergy Organization, and a long-time member of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference. Dr. Garmon has been married to Kittie J. Garmon for 57 years. They have three children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, Dr. Garmon enjoys reading, swimming, walking, traveling, and viewing sports.
