ReadersMagnet Displayed Ruthanne Nopson’s Heart-Tugging Book at the 2023 Hong Kong Book Fair

The self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet exhibited “Hannah” by Ruthanne Nopson at their exhibit booth at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2023. The book event occurred on July 19-25, 2023, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong.

The novel “Hannah” recounts the journey of the Zimmer family as they left Germany for New York City in the late summer of 1900. The story begins with the family preparing to embark on a new adventure, leaving behind their homeland. Consisting of Papa Jacob, Mama Mable, and their two daughters, 11-year-old Hannah and 8-year-old Lilly, the family’s difficult life in Germany drove them to seek a better life in a foreign land. However, Mama Mable and the children were apprehensive about starting anew in an unfamiliar country.

After settling in New York City, the Zimmer family became American citizens and lived amongst other German families. Tragically, Mama Mable passed away from typhoid fever, leaving Papa Jacob to raise his two daughters alone. Eventually, Papa had to go the girls in an orphanage when he could no longer provide for them—the novel delves into the heart-wrenching story of the girls’ lives after separation from their father.

Ruthanne Nopson was born in a small mining camp in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. She started the first grade as a five-year-old. Back then, there were not enough children for kindergarten and first grade. She remembers being excited because now she could learn to read and write.

Ruthanne’s father was a miner, so they moved to many camps. To keep busy, she learned that the library could be your best friend. She spent hours reading and looking at books. She won a writing contest in her seventh grade. She finished high school in Washington State. The only class she knew she could get an A was English Literature. She and her husband raised three children. She made sure they liked to read and write their own story. Ruthanne has a great passion for writing children’s books. They have children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who give her inspiration.
