Joe Gnojek Shares the Importance of Water in Children’s Book “I Hate Water” at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2023

Joe Gnojek’s “I Hate Water” was displayed by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 Hong Kong Book Fair, which was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong, last July 19-25, 2023.

“I Hate Water” follows an active seven-year-old, Krissy, who hates water. However, she does not know that she actively uses water in her daily activities.

Children can learn lessons about conserving water and its importance as they go through Krissy’s story.

The character of Krissy is based on author Joe Gnojek’s daughter. His daughter helped shape the character as he took its character traits from her upon observing her and her relationship with drinking and using water at their home.

Author’s Biography

Married for 39 years, raised 4 children (1 son and 3 daughters) and helped raise one other young man after he was introduced to the family in 2nd grade. Presently retired but will occasionally come out of retirement. Elected as a Fire Commissioner this past December and routinely responds to EMS and Fire Alarms as a 1st responder. Spent years on the baseballs field and soccer field while coaching his children along with countless others. Helped 38 young gentlemen attain Eagle Scout in BSA. Holds’ a patent in the US Patent Office on a dare. Enjoys doing yard work, hiking, camping and travel.

My middle daughter is the main character of “I Hate Water.” She was by far the most challenging child in the household. Very strong willed and head strong. But without the other 4 kids, she would have never become the wonderful woman she is today. She is my English Major and did the proof read of the manuscript. A family friend had his twins model for the illustrations that are in the book.

Little Krissy isn’t so little anymore and has her own family.
