In 1917, Europe, drowning in the disaster of World War I, welcomes the United States doughboys to join the fight. Soon, the great influenza pandemic spreads over the battlefields and back home in the States.

About the Author

Mary Lou Cheatham grew up on a hill farm on the county line south of Taylorsville, Mississippi, and north of Hot Coffee. Her family sat around the fireplace on winter nights with pecans to roast and crack, while they told intriguing stories. On summer evenings, they sat on the front porch, where they shelled peas and beans and listened to the bobcats.

Now she lives in Ransom Canyon, Texas, where she and her husband, John Cooke, dodge skunks in their yard, watch for deer when they drive, and occasionally see a coyote. She has had careers as a high school teacher and registered nurse. These days she is compelled to write historical novels.
