Genesis Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 Awarded Five Star Euro Ncap Rating

Genesis Motor Europe can reveal that Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 have secured a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

The two electric models, which both made their debuts in 2022, were handed high marks from Europe’s leading safety testing organisation. The results mean that the entire current European line-up, including GV60, G70, GV70, G80 and GV80, have now received the maximum five-star score.

Euro NCAP testers noted a strong performance of both cars during the crash testing process, observing that impact protection and structural stability were particularly resilient during the frontal collision and side impact tests. These results were aided by the brand’s patented and industry-leading centre airbag, which can inflate in just 0.03 seconds to help protect the driver and front passenger in the event of a side impact.

In the Safety Assist category, the many advanced driver safety systems fitted to Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 allowed them to record good all-round safety scores. For instance, its Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system is effective in avoiding car-to-car collisions and its sensitivity in warning drivers about vulnerable road users, such as cyclists and pedestrians. With over 40 controllers working in real time to help ensure the safest response in various scenarios, each car’s suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) helps ensure the safety and security of all occupants.
