The New Yorker Festival Announces Its First Round of Events

The Celebrated Cultural Event Returns October 6-8 in New York City.


This October, the New Yorker Festival will return to New York City with its signature mix of talks, panel discussions, and performances. From Friday, October 6th, through Sunday, October 8th, writers and editors from The New Yorker will sit down with some of the most compelling thinkers and artists of our time as the magazine comes to life in this annual celebration of ideas and culture.

The first round of New Yorker Festival events include: 

  • The band Paramore, including Hayley Williams, its front woman, talks with The New Yorker’s Amanda Petrusich and performs.
  • The comedians Ziwe and Aparna Nancherla in conversation with The New Yorker’s Emma Allen.
  • The comedian and musician “Weird Al” Yankovic in conversation with The New Yorker’s Andy Borowitz.
  • Michelle Zauner, the musician and writer behind Japanese Breakfast, talks with The New Yorker’s Hua Hsu and performs.
  • The writers Jhumpa Lahiri and Ling Ma in conversation with The New Yorker’s Cressida Leyshon. 
  • A conversation on the state of American democracy with The New Yorker’s Jelani Cobb, Jill Lepore, and Evan Osnos, moderated by Michael Luo.
  • The artist Simone Leigh in conversation with the curator Thelma Golden.
