Marcia Grace Stewart Goulbourne’s Jazz Song Lyrics Expresses Her Love and Faith in God

“God Is Great: A Collection of Poems” honors the late Marcia Grace Stewarts Goulbourne’s legacy and her faith in God. The poems in this book were originally intended to be Christian jazz songs. These were written to express Marcia’s love and strong belief in God and His Son, Jesus Christ. She not only expressed these thoughts but also lived and held on to them until her last breath.

Marcia Grace Stewart Goulbourne was born in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica. She was the second child of David and Icylyn Stewart. She grew up with her two brothers and cousins in what was described as a disciplined household. With her love of music, she expressed herself through the resonating songs in her piano keys.

“God Is Great” is a compilation of six original song lyrics, complete with rhyming verses and choruses. These lyrics all pertain to Marcia’s love and faith in God. She also included the date on which a song was completed. These are unreleased songs which were converted into poems and hopefully will be read by many, and therefore leave a strong and compassionate legacy.

A family friend, Robert Whitley, said a eulogy for Marcia:

“Marcia Grace Stewart Goulbourne passed away on November 4^th, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Even though she was in tremendous pain, she never focused on her illness and never wanted to draw attention to it.

“Her life was simple with good and honest intentions.”

Author’s Biography

Marcia Grace Stewart Goulbourne was born in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica on March 5^th, 1939. She was the second child of David and Icylyn. She had two brothers, David (deceased) and Peter.

She attended St. Catherine High School where she excelled in academics and sports. She travelled to the USA, where she studied and became proficient in Data Processing.

She met her husband, Terrence Goulbourne while working at the Post Office. They got married in the 1960s. they had one child, Donald.

One of the most important things in Marcia’s life was music. She taught herself to play the piano and loved playing until she was no longer able. She particularly loved jazz and classical music, but enjoyed dancing to the beat of Rhythm and Blues. She often danced tirelessly at home with her older brother, David Jr. and could shake a leg at the popular dances held at the neighborhood Church Hall.
