Sky has announced the launch date of its 4-part docuseries Mission to Burnley  on Sky Documentaries and NOW. All episodes are available as a boxset from August 10 with weekly episodes on Sky Documentaries. The Sky Original series is an epic story about the rebirth of one of England’s most historic clubs, Burnley FC under the ownership of a charismatic group of American owners and the leadership of Vincent Kompany in a season of footballing evolution.

Leading to the build-up of the series Sky commissioned artwork located on the side of a house in Higgin Street opposite Turf Moor. It features Burnley boss Vincent Kompany and owner Alan Pace and will be shown in the opening sequence of the documentary.

Produced by award-winning indie Ad Hoc Films, makers of the acclaimed ‘QPR: The Four-Year Plan’ and ‘The United Way’, this four-part observational documentary series follows the American owners ALK Partners as they seek to navigate the snakes-and-ladders world of modern football. Led by chairman Alan Pace and inspired by their religious faith as members of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints, ALK swapped Wall Street for Turf Moor Lancashire in a bid to build a global footballing dynasty in Burnley and beyond.

With unprecedented access to the boardroom, dressing-room and inner workings of the club, audiences will be taken on a compelling fly-on-the-wall journey in a one-team working-class town, where football is a religion in itself. Charting a rollercoaster period which saw the club lurch from the devastation of final-day relegation from the 2021/22 Premier League to the redemptive jubilation of promotion in the most emphatic fashion, the documentary explores Burnley’s evolution under the stewardship of one of the game’s most exciting young managers, Vincent Kompany, whilst delving deep into the bittersweet realities of striving for success in football. The result is redemption, with Kompany spearheading an unforgettable title-winning season in swashbuckling style.

This is an extraordinarily candid series, examining the running of a major football club on a unique journey back to the most glamorous league in the world.

Ep 1: A Bad Day (10 August)
