Every year, the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books exhibits new publications that share incredibly useful information on a wide range of subjects by expert authors. This even includes an expert driving book by race school instructor and car enthusiast Loren Elmer. Titled “Stay Alive While Driving,” it is a surprisingly useful application of race car driving techniques that can avert everyday driving disasters. This book is now slated to exhibit at the festival.

“What’s the difference between racecar driving and you suddenly trying to avoid a collision? Nothing.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books draws in many eager readers from around the city as they discover recently published works filled with new ideas, stories as well as useful information. These include everything from personal healthcare to housekeeping and more.

When it comes to driving, however, race car expert and passionate driver Loren Elmer’s book is definitely one to check out. Its title is “Stay Alive While Driving: The Secrets of a Race Car Driver.” And while it may sound alarming, the techniques described in the book reveal a surprising truth about what race car drivers and regular drivers have in common.

Both of them are actually expected to use the same techniques when it comes to avoiding collisions, making emergency turns, and ultimately, saving their own lives while at the wheel.

Elmer himself is an avid racer, having raced small-bore formula race cars as well as dirt-track cars and taught in a variety of racing schools all across the United States. He has also taught teen driving programs for Toyota and BMW and given talks on driving safety at the Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles and the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

In all that time, he has seen no difference between the most critical life-saving responses and techniques in race car driving with those that every driver on the road should know to avoid fatal collisions.

Readers attending the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books will have a chance to learn more about Loren Elmer’s techniques when “Stay Alive While Driving: The Secrets of a Race Car Driver” goes on display at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit booth. The festival will occur at the University of San Diego, 5998 Alcala Park, San Diego, CA. Get a copy of the book on Amazon.
