Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Brunswick

 Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its Brunswick bookstore on Wednesday, July 26^th. This event marks the first new Barnes & Noble in Maine since the opening of their Augusta location in 1995. The new Barnes & Noble is located in Merrymeeting Plaza (147 Bath Rd, Brunswick ME, 04011) near Shaw’s, in the space formerly occupied by Dressbarn.

The bookstore will officially open to the public at 10AM ET on Wednesday the 26^th, with author Lisa Steele cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her book The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook. The new location showcases the highly lauded bookstore design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, housing all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller.

“To be opening new bookstores at such a pace would have been unthinkable just a few years ago,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “Very few things are as exciting as opening a new bookstore in an area that has been begging for one. This year we have had much to celebrate and bringing this stunning new Barnes & Noble to the Brunswick community is high on the list.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth, buoyed by significant expansion of the market for physical books driven by word-of-mouth and social media recommendations. In 2022, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 30 new bookstores in 2023, with the Brunswick location being the first to open in Maine since 1995.
