Stephen Lloyd Auslender’s Adventurous Novel of Conniving Steam-Era Barons Will Be Displayed at the Printer’s Row Lit Fest 2023

Before he started writing, Stephen Lloyd Auslender studied and taught mechanical design for well over 50 years. That is why he decided to combine both his expertise and his passion for storytelling in his novel, “The Streamlined Locomotive.” Incidentally, his take on historical fiction will soon exhibit at the historical Printers Row Lit Fest this year.

San Diego, CA – WEBWIRE

“For generations, the Bezelbottoms have elevated the most ambitious, ruthless and determined characters in their clan to serve as their head… and then, there was Theo.”

For the city of Chicago, the Printers Row Lit Fest is a celebration of its own unique place in the history of American literature. Its location was the site of printing and publishing companies dating back to the 1920s and even the late 18th century.

Incidentally, it’s that period that sets the stage for Stephen Lloyd Auslender’s novel, “The Streamlined Locomotive,” which will be exhibited at the event.

“The Streamlined Locomotive” tells the story of a most notorious clan of steam-era robber barons and the luckless heir unwillingly called to pull his own weight.

For the greater part of the industrial revolution, the Bezelbottoms have been led by two men who bear names that indicate their station in the family. On one hand is Uncle Throckmorton, the patriarch picked from the most ambitious, ruthless, and uncompromising among their leaders. On the other is Uncle Aloysius, the designated eccentric genius of the clan.

Further down, however, one can find Theo, a young man who would sooner see his family fortunes pay for his wife, his mistresses, and his free-wheeling lifestyle than any serious corporate endeavor.

Unfortunately, fate has cast Theo under the scrutinizing eye of the present Uncle Throckmorton while his Uncle Aloysius lays upon him the lofty hopes of a new innovation that could set the Bezelbottom fortune for decades to come.

Should he fail, poor Theo would be stripped of everything and then sent packing for military enlistment just as WWII casts its shadow on America.

Visitors to this year’s Printers Row Lit Fest will get a chance to see just how Theo’s story ends when the novel goes on display. Stephen Lloyd Auslender’s “The Streamlined Locomotive” will be exhibited at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit when the event kicks off at its usual location at Printers Row Park on September 9-10, 2023. Get a copy of the book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
