Stephen Redic Showcases His Poetic Creativity in “Tying My Shoes”

“Tying My Shoes” is a collection of poetry by Stephen Redic that recounts his experiences over the last twelve years. His pieces of spoken word poetry have been performed throughout New England. The collection is comprised of 76 titles that reflect the author’s thoughts, feelings, and experiences. These also comment on ‘love & hate’ and ‘old & new’ traditions, and provide readers with a unique perspective on life around them. The author intended to write the pieces in different styles and voices to provide a unique flavor to each one, highlighting the versatility and storytelling prowess.

This is the author’s second book, taking the readers on a journey through his creative poetry. One can delve into his ekphrastic poetry or go into a moment of first-person history or just laugh out loud at some native New England wit. The author readies his readers to get into his world and see his perspective. He aims to provide a new appreciation and delight in what poetry can be even to readers that are not normally into poetry. “Tying My Shoes” will be exhibited by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books 2023. The book festival will be presented by the University of San Diego at 5998 Alcala Park, San Diego, CA, on August 19, 2023. The company has partnered with Redic in exhibiting his works at different book events.

Author’s Biography

Growing up in rural northern Maine, Stephen wanted to write from an early age. Exposed to poetry in a high school workshop, he’s been, after two bouts with cancer, writing ever since. Publishing from fear in 2009 his 1st book “Out of the Rain” was a collection from the first 30 years of his work. This second book is the culmination of touring the Slam Poetry world and the more conservative classic poetry circles and performing over the last ten years.
