This fascinating narrative offers readers a closer look into her trials, her triumphs, and the faith that carried her through it all. Reid’s interesting story is inspired by her personal experiences and deeply-rooted desire to expose the wrongdoings plaguing humanity. Her inspirations also stem from the compassion she developed while caring for her mentally challenged brother, creating a deeply personal and relatable narrative.

She states: “When God came to my rescue, He completely healed me and freed me to expose the strongholds by which the devil had me secretly bound.” This conviction serves as a central theme throughout the book, emphasizing the healing power of God and the freedom that faith brings.

The book is a testament to the transformational power of God’s grace and a lesson in finding one’s purpose in the midst of difficulty. It seeks to shed light on the terrible reality that many people have to deal with, particularly those who have been affected by mental health issues and children in the foster care system.

About the Author

After writing her first book, “Smile Bandages Cover a Multitude of Pain,” Vertie Pringle Reid realized that it was the initial resurfacing of some of her long-forgotten memories. Through those memories, she experienced a transitional period in which she was able to find God’s purpose for her life.

Thereafter, she started Smile Bandages Ministries Inc. wherein Smile Bandages “Stompers” and Smile Bandages “Jewels,” two praise dance troupes, were started for this ministry. Smile Bandages Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit organization, functioning for the sole purpose of encouraging youths and seniors to develop relationships of love and trust towards one another while worshiping God together in the spirit of truth and mutual support.

Every first and fourth Sunday, she would take youths with her to dance and cheer up seniors and the residents at nursing homes. She wrote plays to accommodate the nursing home residents to take an active part in the performances along with the cast.

She has cared for mentally challenged individuals and fostered children for a number of years and wrote two articles in Fostering Families Today: “Big Girls Need Hugs” and “Love can be Preached with a Smile.”

Since then, she has written four more books: “Smile Bandages, Loving the Unlovable,” “Smile Bandages, Repairers of the Breach,” “Smile Bandages, Coping with Irreversible Damages,” and her latest book, “His Love Letters are...I Love You,” is a compilation of short stories by several authors. Her short story in the book is about her husband Randy—it is the last story in the book, in which he says it’s the best story out of them all because it’s about him, of course.
