“You’ll Do Anything for Her: A New Relationship Perspective,” by Dr. Maureen E. Hosier and her sister, Berta Hosier Conger, was exhibited at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, held at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, last April 22-23, 2023.

The display of Hosiers’ books at the country’s largest book festival was made possible by the self-publishing and book marketing company, ReadersMagnet. The company showcases different titles, sharing them with thousands of fairgoers that include authors, avid readers, and publishing industry professionals.

In this book, “You’ll Do Anything for Her,” traditional psychological labels are set aside to give way for understanding what one is really thinking and feeling when they unconsciously, i.e., without their conscious awareness, “give up their self,” to make their relationship work for Her.

Persons who “give up their selves” will unconsciously choose, that means without their awareness, they will chose a woman who is expecting to receive, maybe even demanding to receive, their partner’s attention and focus on her needs and feelings.

The book’s purpose is to help nurture one’s interest and understanding of their own relationship dynamics in the specific situation where they “give up their self” to focus on her needs and feelings.

The book is a twin to the co-authors’ second book, “You’ll Do Anything for Him.”

Both books delve into the relationship dynamics of the person reading the book, informing the reader about their own dynamics with their partner.

Author’s Biography

Maureen always wanted to write a book about relationships but knew she couldn’t do it on her own.

She couldn’t get the words down on paper without her sister’s focus on detail, organization, and flow—not to mention her sister’s ability to bring introspective depth and richness to their combined understanding of one-person and two-person relationships.

One-person and two-person relationships are made clear to their readers because generally their readers are persons who resonate with their feeling that they “give up themselves” to make their partner’s happy.

Thus, without their conscious awareness, creating a one-person relationship dynamic where their partner’s needs and feelings are more important than their own. And likely this relationship dynamic was learned and honed in their childhoods with either or both parents whereby the child learns to give up their own self to make their parent or parents “happy.”

Writing the books together became the sisters’ way of also learning how to be in a two-person relationship where both sister’s ideas are considered and valued at the same moment in time, without their fighting and arguing and demanding things to be “my way.”

Their early argument experiences made it clear to them both, that one of them had to “give up themselves” to make things work for the other, which created the one-person relationship and was exactly the relationship dynamic they were exploring and hoping to make conscious for their readers.

It took the sisters’ patience and caring, to learn how, to become conscious of their own needs and feelings and to consider each other’s ideas and perspectives at the same moment in time when they each wanted something different.

They had to consciously experience a “new” relationship technique.

They had to learn to “listen.” They had to learn to “care” about each other’s ideas and feelings. They had to learn to care about their “relationship.”

This was a huge, complex emotional accomplishment in their partnership. And became the “answer” to a partnership’s success.

They understood they both had to begin to wonder and explore and understand what was going on for themselves that they both “gave up their own selves” to focus on “taking care of HIM” (Berta), and Maureen, “taking care of HER,” in their intimate relationships.

So, they realized the issue was not about HER and making the relationship work for “HER.” Rather the issue from the reader’s perspective is about - what’s going on for me, that I focus on his needs and feelings, to make the relationship work for HER?

Aha! I’m the one, needing to change me. So, how do I do that?

Thus, the two books, “You’ll Do Anything for Him” and “You’ll Do Anything for Her,” were created.

The content in both books is the same, the pronouns are different. The relationship dynamics and etiologies of the dynamics of both partners, one who “gives up them self,” the other who “demands” their partner to “give up themselves,” is similar in all couples who face the challenge of a one-person relationship.
