The Hong Kong Book Fair is one of the largest book fairs in Asia and a grand summer event in Hong Kong. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the city’s literary and cultural extravaganza features book exhibits, storytelling sessions, author panel discussions, workshops, live entertainment, and more.

“A Good Marine’s Murder” follows Colonel Dan Breakheart, a Safety Officer of the Second Marine Air Wing. He is tasked to sort out the cause of Colonel Jack Adam’s accident. Colonel Adam crashed an AV-8B Harrier in the middle of a North Carolina bean field, causing his death.

Within days of the start of his investigation, Breakheart realizes that his friend’s death may have been a sabotage. On top of that, he also discovers that murder is also on the table. Using the information Jack’s wife provides, Breakheart begins delving into the last few days of Colonel Adam’s life. With the help of a young and lovely NADEP engineer and his best buddy, Major “Snake” Burns, he must solve the mystery quickly. However, he must place himself in harm’s way to solve the case while smoking the malefactor into a confession.

Will Breakheart solve the mystery behind his friend’s death? Read about it in “A Good Marine’s Murder” by David C. Corbett, available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and ReadersMagnet Bookstore.

“A Good Marine’s Murder” will be displayed at the ReadersMagnet exhibit at booths 1C-B23 and 1C-B25 at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2023. Visit the exhibit to view the book’s display.

Author’s Biography

David C. Corbett retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1990 as a full Colonel. During his twenty-eight-year career of flying fighter jets, which included the F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-9 Cougar, and for the last seventeen years the AV-8 Harrier (Jump-Jet), he also held five commands . . . a AV-8 Harrier squadron, a Marine Air Support Group, and a Marine Air Ground Task Force. Colonel Corbett spent two tours in Vietnam, one flying the F-8 Crusader and the other flying Cobra gunship helicopters. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross while flying a mission into North Vietnam.

He began writing professionally in 1986 for a regional magazine, “Carolina Cursing.” It was in his early writing career that he appeared in “Naval Proceeding,” with an article on the use of the AV-8 in a combat scenario. He was also published several times in the prestigious Navy Air Safety Publication, “Approach.”

Beyond his flying abilities, Corbett is an avid sailor, which led to having articles published in a variety of sailing oriented magazines. This led to a position as an associate editor for “Coastal Cruising” magazine, where he had his own by line.

Now fully retired, living in North Carolina, near the Marine Corps base from which he flew so many wonderful years, he enjoys life with his loving wife, Donna.
