Why Were Pre-Civilized People Happier than We Modern People? Find Out in Chet Shupe’s New Book To be Displayed at the 2023 Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt International Book Fair)

Shupe explains that the unnatural requirements civilization places on modern humans have separated humanity from our natural way of life—the life in which evolution created us to thrive. Until the advent of monetary and legal systems, we found contentment in interdependent relationships within small extended families.

“In the book, Rediscovering the Wisdom of Human Nature, Second Edition, by Chet Shupe, readers are introduced to what humans need to achieve wellbeing as humans. It discusses the true nature of human life and what there was before our lives were civilized. It talks about what life could be like if we get back to our human nature, pre-evolution, and the importance of doing so.” – Elisabeth Kunert

In these “spiritual homes” everyone depended on each other, for survival, and enjoyed the happiness that naturally flows from the love and connection that comes from placing the needs of others above our own.

The many, and escalating problems, now so alarming in modern life, cannot be solved, according to Shupe. We must instead recognize that evolution endowed each of us with all the wisdom we need, to experience fulfilling lives, by living in the moment. His book, “Rediscovering the Wisdom of Human Nature: How Civilization Destroys Happiness,” makes the point that, when we are living for the future promised by governments, ideologies, and religions, we must ignore our feelings of the moment. This denies us access to our inborn wisdom—the only wisdom through which our lives can make sense. This explains the disharmony and suffering that characterizes modern life. If we can re-embrace the circumstances in which humans were once free to live in the moment, then, our problems would heal themselves.

What modern people perceive as “our problems” are not real, Shupe adds, but instead only symptoms of trying to use the life Nature gave us to realize personal ambitions. The solution is to cease trying to control Nature to our own ends, and again allow Nature to control us, through the human spirit—the feelings endowed us by evolution. We would still face problems, of course, but at least they would be real—problems that are resolvable.

“Rediscovering the Wisdom of Human Nature: How Civilization Destroys Happiness” will be on display at the ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at the Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt Book Fair). The book trade fair will take place October 18-22, 2023, at Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, 60327 Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Chet Shupe’s book is available on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Author Bio
As a whistle-blower to the world, Chet Shupe speaks with urgency about the need to rediscover people’s connections with their own nature, if we are ever again to experience the contentment of sisterhood and brotherhood that is our natural heritage.

Chet Shupe is an electronics engineer who suffered from severe Attention Deficit Disorder, for much of his life. When he was 43, his condition was finally diagnosed, and he began treatment with Ritalin. Suddenly, life made sense. As a result of that extraordinary experience, he began writing on brain dysfunction to provide a conceptual framework for medically treating the brain.

As a result of that effort—combined with his professional knowledge of system control theory—Shupe’s subject soon changed from brain dysfunction to cultural dysfunction. He realized that the brain cannot find lasting contentment, nor can it produce behavior that serves the individual or the species, when functioning in a reality that, emotionally, it does not comprehend.
