Barnes & Noble Announces Kites as Their July Game of the Month

Barnes & Noble announces Kites as its Game of the Month pick for July. A windless or rainy day can’t keep the kites down in this all-new card game perfect for stirring up some friendly competition this summer.

“We are truly excited to announce Kites as our newest Barnes & Noble Game of the Month,” said Marnie Lawrence, Senior Director of Toys and Games at Barnes & Noble. “This marvelously interactive real-time card game challenges players to strategize against the clock. Wonderful for group settings of friends and family members alike, Kites is both captivating and easy to introduce to new players of all ages. And as our booksellers know, this game isn’t always blue skies — storms and airplanes make for exciting obstacles as you fight to keep flight.”

Kites allows two to six players at a time to compete in keeping their “kites” in the air the longest. With six colored sand timers — each representing the amount of time a kite has left before hitting the ground — players must strategize which cards to play in order to flip the timers and keep the kites flying high. The game comes to an end once the last card is played or once any of the timers run out, leaving the player with the fewest cards left as the winner.
