The San Diego Union-Tribune is about to celebrate its 7th Festival of Books, inviting authors, publishers, and eager readers from all across San Diego and beyond.

It’s another great opportunity for newly published writers like Jennie R. Short. By day, Jennie is a municipal court clerk who has worked for the City of Sallisaw for the past 20 years. Though on the side, she had been working on her first novel and has published it this year!

Titled “Remember the Night,” it’s a suspenseful murder mystery, and Short managed to get it an exhibit spot just in time for the San Diego Union-Tribune’s 7th Annual Festival of Books.

“Remember the Night” blends sexy romance, psychological thriller, and the ambiance of 1980s Los Angeles. Its main protagonist is Rebecca Rockwell, a private investigator with a budding reputation in the Los Angeles and Santa Monica area.

Rebecca is often sought out by the families and loved ones of many missing persons, with her newest case involving a serial killer on the scenic Sunset Strip. Tracking the culprit to the local nightclub scene, she decides to go undercover as the club recently welcomes its rising star band The Broken Arrows.

Before she realizes it, she finds herself slowly falling for the new band’s sexy rock god lead singer, John Stone.

John’s proximity to the killer’s suspected haunts puts Rebecca in a bind. And as she becomes more involved in both the case and John’s personal life, she realizes that both of them are in far greater danger than she first realized.

Visitors to the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books will get a chance to see how Jennie R. Short’s exciting new novel ends. “Remember the Night” will be on display at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit.
