Christian Author Wayman Jackson’s Biblical Fantasy Novel Was Exhibited at the 2023 L.A. Times Festival of Books

A good number of new Christian authors are heading to publishers in the hopes of using their creative talents to evangelize readers across genres. That includes Wayman Jackson, the recently published author of “The Sword of the Spirit.” His novel is a Christian fantasy that draws on a lot of biblical themes and imagery that represent his understanding of being a spiritual warrior of God. The book was last exhibited at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023.

The many exhibits at the L.A. Times Festival of Books 2023 showcased numerous authors from a diverse range of religious beliefs. These include a number of Christian writers who see the event as an opportunity to show their creative talents in service to evangelization.

One of them is Wayman Jackson. His book, “The Sword of the Spirit: City on the Brink,” got an exhibit spot with the help of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company.

The book’s main protagonist is Hezekiah, who was saved from the claws of a demonic beast by Christ Himself. However, His reason for doing so sets the young man on a journey to the wickedest city of the age: The City of Sodom.

The days are numbered for this city and its inhabitants. Jackson describes its streets as filled with citizens who have openly denied God, legions of demons, and hosts of fallen angels. Hezekiah must use all his strength as a Spirit Warrior to save the souls of the people of Sodom, even as they reject his outreach.

Combining action, intense biblical imagery, and the language of spiritual warfare, Jackson’s “The Sword of the Spirit.” reflects a lot of his experience as an active practitioner of his faith. Asides from ministering the gospel, he has worked in community service, gone on stints as a street preacher, and even uses his skill as a professional martial artist as a means to evangelize. His passion for writing stems from his strong desire to save what he sees are lost souls. The book shares his story as much as it works to inspire conversion.
