John Wayne Troxell’s Decorated Bio of His Rise to SEAC in U.S. Military Marches Off to Hong Kong Book Fair 2023

When John Wayne Troxell joined the military as a young man, it never quite occurred to him that he would eventually rise to the most senior enlisted position in the entire U.S. Armed Forces. In his book “Surrender or Die!,” he shares his story with the world. The book will be exhibited at the 2023 Hong Kong Book Fair.

At the Hong Kong Book Fair, exhibitors will put on display new publications that tell the story of many incredible lives, both locally and abroad.

That includes the story of John Wayne Troxell, as told in his book, “Surrender or Die!: Reflections of a Combat Leader.” Troxell had served 38 years in the U.S. military, enlisting as just another young man from Iowa yet spending the next three decades rising through the ranks to becoming Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (SEAC).

“Surrender or Die!” covers Troxell’s journey from his enlistment while still fresh out of high school all the way through his five combat tours, including a combat parachute assault in Operation Just Cause and four tours during some of America’s most historical operations in the Middle East.

Troxell has seen it all. He served during the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and the War in Afghanistan (along with the greater Global War on Terrorism). Like many who took part, he had endured the challenges of leadership, combat, the prevalence of PTSD, and more.

His book shares the resulting wisdom, insight, and resilience-building techniques from his experience. The advice he shares coincides with his new work promoting his PME Hard program as well as leadership consulting for several businesses.

John Wayne Troxell joined the US Army after graduating from high school and served for almost 38 years culminating his service as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (SEAC). His service included five combat tours to include the combat parachute assault in Panama during Operation Just Cause, Operation Desert Shield/Storm in Iraq, two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and one in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Troxell created the term and program PME Hard (physically, mentally, and emotionally hard) to maximize battlefield performance and save lives and created the E Tool Nation, based off of his inspirational ultimatum to terrorists of “Surrender or Die” or face death by bombing, getting shot or if need be, beaten with entrenching tools! In his post military life, he serves multiple businesses as a consultant, ambassador, or advisor. He and his wife Sandra have been married for 39 years.
