ReadersMagnet will Exhibit Dr. Janis Pardue Hill’s Book at the 2023 Hong Kong Book Fair

The self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will exhibit “Telling His Story: Pow #1000: The Bataan Death March and Japanese Pow Camps” by Janis Pardue Hill, Ph.D., at the Hong Kong Book Fair. The book event will occur on July 19-25, 2023, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Expo Dr, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is an annual event for authors, publishers, and book lovers. “Telling His Story: Pow #1000” is based on the actual journaling and writings of the author’s father, J.C. Pardue, POW #1000. Dr. Janis, the book’s compiler and editor, details her father’s story - from joining the US Army Air Corps to his life after World War II. It includes his experiences in the battle to defend Bataan and the inhumane treatment he endured during the Death March and in the POW camps. Additionally, it covers his life as a captive in Japan and his determination to live a Christian life after surviving the war.

Dr. Janis considers her father’s experience a magnificent survival story under the most challenging, seemingly impossible odds. She hopes her book will encourage a continued appreciation for the soldiers, a deeper understanding of war and evil, and the miracle of faith coming from what her father considered his most powerful weapon – the Holy Bible.

Janis Pardue Hill, PhD, a retired university professor and lifelong educator, holds a BS in English education, an MA in literature, and a doctorate in curriculum theory. She has worked in secondary and university classrooms, as a program coordinator in the Louisiana Department of Education, and as a curriculum coordinator in the Ouachita Parish School System. She and her husband, Charles A. Hill, Jr., have two children and three grandchildren and live in North Louisiana. She retired from Louisiana Tech University.
