Virginia Stewart Metzler’s “Our God Still Speaks” was Exhibited at the 2023 London Book Fair

Virginia Stewart Metzler’s “Our God Still Speaks: Real-life Stories of How God Answers Prayers” was exhibited at the 2023 London Book Fair, which took place in Olympia London, London, UK, last April 18-20, 2023.

The book display at the London Book Fair was made possible by the self-publishing and book marketing company, ReadersMagnet. ReadersMagnet supports new authors and helps them have their stories showcased to readers, booksellers, and other authors.

“Our God Still Speaks” tells how Virginia and her husband went on a mission to Liberia. Their main goal was for Tommy to be the pilot of the mission’s two planes. They met people with stories to share as they helped the Liberians daily. As they carried out their mission, they could tell that God spoke clearly to them during their time spent at Tournata. The couple also learned about living in Liberia. For instance, they understood when and when NOT to shoot a crocodile, in one night’s harrowing experience. There were always exciting experiences to be enjoyed there. Their missionary work along with the experiences they shared, strengthened their bond of love for each other.

The book is the author’s stack of stones for her answered prayers, just like Joshua in the Book of Joshua, who made a stack of 12 stones as a memorial to God for His love and faithfulness. The author uses scriptures to capture the kernel of each experience as written. Each passage is a reminder that when everything is according to God’s plan, God uses them and their situation for His glory.

Author’s Biography

Virginia Stewart Metzler was born in Houston, Texas, went to high school there, and fell in love with John Thomas Barnett Jr. (better known as Tommy). They married and six weeks later moved to Liberia, West Africa, in June of 1957. Tommy was a pilot for R. G. LeTourneau’s mission, Tournata. They lived there for 2 years and afterward, Tommy was killed in a plane crash. As a result, she moved back to Texas with her two small children, Vicki, age 2, and Randy, age 8 months.
