Early Insights on My AI


We began rolling out My AI, our AI-powered chatbot, to our global community of more than 750 million monthly Snapchatters.

We are thrilled that over 150 million people have sent over 10 billion messages to My AI [1], making My AI among the largest consumer chatbots available.

We have been inspired by the ways our community has adopted conversational AI, with millions using My AI to foster creativity and connection with friends, receive real-world recommendations, and learn more about their interests and favorite subjects. We wanted to share some of the most popular conversation topics, based on learnings from our community in the US, India, France, and Great Britain. [2] [3]

Driving Relevance Across Snapchat

As we shared last month, we believe that conversations with My AI have the potential to improve a variety of experiences across Snapchat by understanding our community’s interests in a privacy-centric way. 

We are beginning to test ways that conversational AI within Snapchat can lead to more engaging experiences for our community, including by bringing Snapchatters mobile video powered by conversational intent for the first time. We are building this capability in two ways:

  • We are able to use conversations with My AI to enhance a key optimization that we offer advertisers, called Snapchat Lifestyle Categories (SLCs). These categories are historically based on factors like which content a Snapchatter watches. New signals from conversations with My AI will now help us enhance the quality and depth of SLCs, ultimately boosting the relevance of the ads Snapchatters see on the app.
  • We are developing ways to use commercially-oriented conversations with My AI to enhance our foundational ranking models, which has the potential to improve the relevance of the content, augmented reality, and advertising experiences we serve across Snapchat.
  • We continue early testing of sponsored links, which connect our community with partners relevant to their conversation in that moment, while helping partners reach Snapchatters who have indicated potential interest in their offerings. We are in an experimental phase to ensure we design thoughtful, useful experiences for our community and will share more as the offering evolves. 

 We believe that conversations with My AI have the potential to help us deliver more relevant content and experiences across Snapchat, and we will continue to innovate in this area to improve the experience we offer our community.
