Jamie Pulos-Fry’s Highly Informative Guide to Ministering Widows in Church Displayed at the 2023 L.A. Times Festival of Books

Being a widow herself, Jamie Pulos-Fry has seen the dearth of literature on how to best treat them in the context of religious ministry and church life. That’s why she decided to publish a heartfelt and informative guide titled “A Widow’s Cry.” The book was recently exhibited at the prestigious Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

“Jamie has put a lot of heart and soul into this book… For she has lived it! It is chock full of information and resources. There are now things I will never say to a widow--- thank you!” – Mrs. Tonya Shepherd, Women’s Inspirational Speaker

The L.A. Times Festival of Books 2023 included a lot of new publications tackling the underrepresented and unprivileged members of local church communities. That’s why religious authors like Jamie Pulos-Fry recently wrote a book on how to best minister to widows.

Her book, “A Widow’s Cry: A Helpful Tool for Widow Ministries,” is a short yet very helpful guide that categorizes the most basic needs that widows seek to fulfill in church. Being a widow herself, she knows first-hand why these essentials are critical to outreach. With the help of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company, her book was seen by many visitors to the company’s booth at the book festival.

Among its contents include why widows need spiritual outreach. There is a handy list of dos and don’ts when visiting them. Grief and counseling resources are also covered, along with ideas on financial help.

She gives plenty of scriptural references as well as a charitable collection of prayers specifically for her fellow widows.

Speaking of which, the same widows were quite helpful in her research for the book. Pulos-Fry is a dedicated member of the Lancaster Baptist Church, singing in its choir and serving at the coffee shop of the West Coast Baptist College. This gave her plenty of opportunity to encounter others who have been in similar situations but struggled to gain support from their pastors or their community.

It is her hope that her book will increase awareness of these issues and that her words will share the hope that God still has big plans for the widowed.
