Emergency/First Responder and Emerging Market Enterprise Communications Solutions on Show at CTIA

*Remote Enterprise Solution (RES) will benefit isolated campuses

*No reason for emergency communications problems during 2007 hurricane season
with Remote Contiguous Communications Unit

Orlando, 27 March 2007 - Leading developer of advanced wireless solutions
for remote applications, Altobridge, (Stand 4141 Hall B4, Ireland Pavillion)
will be at CTIA showcasing its Remote Contiguous Communications UnitT (RCC),
a portable communications solution aimed at Government and Corporate clients
for use in Emergency/First Responder situations. Also on show will be the
company’s Local Community Communications (LCC) Remote Enterprise Solution
(RES) aimed at meeting the essential communications needs of isolated
communities.

The RCC
The RCC enables standard cellular communications anywhere, under any
circumstances including extreme natural disaster scenarios. Whether for use
by Government First Responder/Emergency personnel or the business community
for communications continuity (Communications Insurance) the Altobridge
RCC can provide a guaranteed cellular service in the most challenging
environments.

The system operates without the cost/technology barriers that exist with
traditional solutions, such as vehicle-based Cell On Wheels (COW). The
Altobridge RCC combines the patented Altobridge AM Gateway Platform, a
standard pico-cellular base station and a satellite transmission unit (e.g.
Inmarsat GAN/BGAN), all in a single carry case.

All existing emergency communictions solutions carry with them certain
barriers, either technological, financial, mobility etc., which prevent an
effective and timely response in a situation where immediate standard
communications matters most. Using the Altobridge RCC Unit,
interoperability, coverage, capacity, mobility and power issues are all
overcome by a lightweight service delivered by distributing small
transportable communication cases to the key locations. The business model
can include a 24/7, fully-managed service, including support, training and
rehearsals.

The system is ideal for sceanarios following natural disasters, where
service is lost, congested or the disaster takes place outside the normal
coverage area. Emergency workers can communicate from, and be contacted on,
their existing mobile handsets. With the RCC, first responders are able to
carry the units with them and simply turn on their existng cellular
handsets, ensuring maximum communications impact the moment it is needed.

The LCC RES
Aimed especially at those businesses which operate in isolated regions where
traditional communications solutions are absent the RES is ideal to meet the
needs of the tens of thousands of remote enterprises across the emerging
world, communities which are pivotal to driving these economies and aiding
their development. Oil fields and refineries, mines, logging camps,
plantations, government research centres and general enterprise communities
typically remain cut-off from basic mobile communications. Without this
basic service these organisations experience reduced efficiencies,
restricted economic development, poor quality of life and staff retention
issues, all of which can be greatly eased with the delivery of personal
mobile communications.

In response, Altobridge has developed the RES, incorporating its patent
pending low-cost ’Split BSS Over Satellite’ architecture, incorporating Abis
compression and satellite link optimisation, which remove the high barriers
of entry into mobile communications which have been the obstacle for the
remote enterprise market. The RES is a unique, semi-permanent connectivity
solution suitable both for long-term deployment and more temporary
installations.

Operators are now able to provide viable local switching at the base station
site, which is transparent to the installed infrastructure and is fully
compatible with any current supplier’s equipment - a wholly
technology-agnostic solution. It enables local mobile-to-mobile calls to be
switched at the base station and allows calls to and from the PSTN to be
switched at the site rather than backhauling them to the MSC and back. The
Altobridge solution effectively extends the feature-rich services of the
core network to these remote enterprises, presenting network operators with
no integration and no feature transparency issues, e.g. prepaid users are
handled seamlessly, a very positive impact on OPEX and local service quality
and also a significant ROI.

Mike Fitzgerald, CEO of Altobridge, said, "The RCC is an exciting
proposition for all first responder teams and offers a robust way of
establishing cellular communications in the most demanding situations. In
the case of the RES, our patent pending split-BSS gateway architecture at
the heart of the solution can provide operators with a win-win system, which
will help them meet the demanding, remote location service-delivery
requirements of their licences and, most importantly, make money from these
untapped subscribers, which until now has simply not been possible"

Focusing attention on the RCC, Monte Egeland, Vice President of Altobridge,
added, "For the typical crisis situations, such as earthquakes and hurricane
scenarios, where normal networks are down, the RCC delivers a way of
establishing immediate communications using any standard mobile phones or
PDA used by members of a first responder team or specific, corporate
closed-user group. It will be a communications insurance policy for any
government agencies and corporations which elect to use the system"

Both solutions are available now to all GSM network operators and global
customers.
