Berlin – WEBWIRE

IAA MOBILITY has evolved into one of the world’s leading platforms for mobility and sustainability. IAA Experience is the interactive format of IAA MOBILITY in which, from September 5-10, various exhibitors will present a range of modes of transportation – from cars to micromobility – for visitors to test at the IAA Open Space in the heart of Munich. The event will focus on climate-neutral and trailblazing mobility. The cars can be driven in the city or on the highway, e-scooters and cargo bikes in the city, while bicycles and e-bikes can be tested in the English Garden and elsewhere.

A total of six starting and end points are planned for the Open Space in downtown Munich. As it stands now, over 150 vehicles will be available to test. Past automotive companies who have offered test drives include AUDI, BMW, BYD, Ford, Lotus, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, Vinfast, Volkswagen, and XPENG.

The following vehicles will be available for testing in downtown Munich for visitors with a valid license:

  • Audi (20 vehicles)
  • BMW/Mini (10 vehicles)
  • BYD (20 vehicles)
  • FORD (5 vehicles)
  • holoride (6 vehicles)
  • Lotus (3 vehicles)
  • Mercedes (30 vehicles)
  • Porsche (20 vehicles)
  • Vinfast (8 vehicles)
  • VW (10 vehicles)
  • XPENG (4 vehicles)

The following vehicles will be available for testing at the IAA Summit at the Messe München:
(Admission only to trade visitors with a ticket)

  • Hesai (1 vehicle)
  • Mahle (2 vehicles)
  • Microvision (1 vehicle)
  • Mobileye (6 vehicles)
  • VW (10 vehicles)
  • XEV (2 vehicles)

The participating exhibitors will be organizing all their own testing activities. Visitors who want to learn more can find additional information on the IAA MOBILITY website (www.iaa-mobility.com) under “Experience” as of July, and all registered exhibitors and participating vehicles will be listed in our official IAA MOBILITY app under “Experience”.

Test drives of cars can be reserved in advance via the exhibitors’ booking tools, if they offer one. Visitors can find the link to the respective booking tool in the vehicle entry in the IAA MOBILITY app, and they can also sign up for test drives at the designated starting points on site. Interest in these test drives was very high in 2021 and were very quickly booked up.

Even the shuttle service is a test drive

A shuttle service will also be available in the Open Space that connects all the downtown squares across approximately 3 miles. The shuttle will run in 5- to 7-minute intervals during the event hours. Registration is not required, and visitors can get on at the stops free of charge.

The shuttles are powered by electricity, hydrogen, or BioLNG in a direct showing of climate-friendly technology at IAA MOBILITY. They will also raise awareness of new modes of transport, giving authorities, investors, and experts from around the world the opportunity to try these vehicles out for themselves.

The following buses can be tested in the shuttle service:

  • IAV (1 vehicle)
  • Ikarus/Trasco (1 vehicle)
  • Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie (2 vehicles)
  • Webasto (1 vehicle)

One app connects parking and charging: MOBIX

Experts estimate that motorists in Germany spend at least 41 hours per year looking for a parking space. However, there are not currently any estimates of how much time is spent per year looking for a charging station. MOBIX, an app for sustainable mobility, is helping visitors to IAA MOBILITY find parking spots and electrical charging stations – just in time for IAA MOBILITY 2023. Parking and charging spots are reserved and paid for through the app.

For the first time, visitors to IAA can use the MOBIX app to find and reserve previously inaccessible parking spots, and to charge their electric cars at private charging stations. “We’re making inner-city traffic as sustainable as possible,” says Michael Reuter, founder and CEO of MOBIX Marketplace.

Parking spots and charging stations wanted!

Anybody who is interested is invited to get involved so that there will be plenty of private charging stations and parking spots available when IAA MOBILITY 2023 commences in September! If you would like to provide a parking spot or charging station in Munich, please contact the MOBIX team at business@mobix.ai. Anybody who is offering or who owns a parking spot or charging station, and anybody who wants to find a place to park and charge, can join the MOBIX Marketplace. All they need is the MOBIX app, which is equally compatible with both iPhones and Android smartphones.

MOBIX will be at IAA MOBILITY to present the MOBI-X project by the GAIA-X mobility consortium moveID, and will also be available in many cities worldwide through the MOBIX app.
