Let’s get to work

WEBWIRE

During my keynote at the AWE conference, I shared exciting Magic Leap updates with industry leaders and developers and discussed our work with NVIDIA and Argyle.

Having built an authentic augmented reality platform over a decade, it’s rewarding to see enterprise AR gaining momentum. Despite the challenges of creating and mass-producing a genuine AR device, Magic Leap has achieved considerable milestones. We chose a difficult path, believing in AR’s transformative potential. And it’s paying off.

While big tech companies are showing renewed interest, most are attempting to enter the market with passthrough VR—an intermediate solution in the XR space that attempts to make VR devices function like true augmented reality devices. Magic Leap 2 is a true AR device that overcomes the latency and distortion limitations of passthrough VR, enhancing enterprise applications significantly. We’re already witnessing developers integrating AI into their solutions, amplifying their power.

Magic Leap 2 is an enterprise AR device purpose-built to overcome previous barriers to AR adoption like low-quality visuals and issues with bright environments. It’s the industry’s smallest, lightest, and most immersive AR device, designed for all-day wear and with features like our Dynamic Dimming™ technology.

Our IEC 60601 certified device, designed for medical use, has opened new medical use cases and I was proud to announce that we’re also the world’s first company to meet the UL8400 safety standard for AR, VR, and MR equipment.

We’re reaching a critical juncture for AR technology, with the hardware and ecosystem providing real value and transforming businesses.

Our open ecosystem strategy empowers developers to create and scale solutions while allowing enterprises to control their AR experiences. Our platform’s compliance with OpenXR standards, support for MRTK and Unity, simplifies development and deployment. In August, a preview of the Unreal Engine plugin for Magic Leap 2 will be released, offering developers a suite of powerful tools to create immersive AR experiences.

Considering corporate IT infrastructure realities, we’ve made our platform cloud-agnostic. Our partners, spanning industries from retail to construction, are integrating this technology, demonstrating the realization of the future of work.

Now, our customers and partners span the globe. They’re integrating this technology to great effect already. The future we’ve all been promised—where AR is a valuable tool that’s part of people’s work—isn’t distant.

Businesses have begun to realize that it’s here, now. The fact that our device is built on an open platform gives them the flexibility to make their solutions even more powerful, including integrating other emergent technologies like AI.

We’re working with incredible partners like Cisco, VMWare, NVIDIA, Unity, Epic, Argyle, Arvizio, Formavision, Frontline, and many others. These collaborations are creating significant value—from retail to automotive, manufacturing, medical, architecture, and construction.

The truth is that technology is a tool—and its value lies in its usefulness at the moment it’s needed. We’re all so used to hearing about what a technology will be able to do for us in the future. At Magic Leap, we’d rather talk about what these tools can do for us today

So, let’s get to work.
