Uber is reviving the business traveler experience

In 2014, Uber for Business brought the magic of Uber to businesses and their employees, for the first time. What started as a novel concept to harness the power of rideshare as a turnkey solution for businesses, has since scaled to more than 170,000 customers across 70+ countries. Uber for Business has emerged as a core unit within Uber’s portfolio. In fact, in Q1, we saw significant growth in the overall business-to-business segment with 40% year-over-year growth.

Our offerings, built on the largest mobility network in the world, continue to create exceptional and differentiated business travel experiences for everyone from road warriors to the once-a-year business travelers.

Corporate travel looks different today though. In the aftermath of the pandemic, we have seen business travelers expect more flexibility, greater convenience and an elevated experience—benefits they have grown accustomed to when they travel for leisure. Meanwhile, employers are increasingly intentional with business travel policies and need to justify a return on their travel investment, while meeting greater compliance levels.

To meet these evolving business needs, the business travel experience must be redesigned across the entire journey. That’s why today we’re launching new products and features that help our users switch seamlessly into a business mindset and lead this next chapter for business travel.

A business-class experience, now on Uber

We’re committed to creating the best trip possible when you’re traveling for work. A brand new ride type exclusive to business travelers, Uber Business Comfort includes priority pickup—which prioritizes the rider’s request.*

Plus, riders will have access to elevated features like newer cars, more legroom, more time to meet their ride**, highly rated drivers, and custom preferences—like requesting a quiet car or a vehicle set to your ideal temperature.

Travelers will also have access to a designated, 24/7 personalized support service to manage their travel needs—an exclusive perk to Uber Business Comfort riders.

All your perks and travel programs in one place

We know that work is busy and life is hectic—the last thing you have memorized is your company’s travel policy. That’s where the new business hub comes in.

Found within the Uber and Uber Eats apps, the business hub allows business travelers to view all of their workplace perks at their fingertips, including a summary of employee perks and employers’ travel policies. Employees have easy access to up-to-date perks and travel programs anytime, anywhere—giving them the information they need to stay compliant.

We’ve also made it easier for Uber users to find their company programs. In the business hub, employees can get started by searching for their company name to see if travel or meal programs are available to them. They can find out if they are eligible by inputting their work email address to connect their business profile and access company-specific benefits and programs.

Business mode, activated

And there’s more to come.

Coming soon, business travelers will be able to more easily switch into business mode. Users will seamlessly switch between their consumer and business Uber profiles—depending on whether they’re traveling for work or leisure. Toggling over to the business profile will unlock exclusive features like access to automatic, post-travel expense management with providers like Coupa. Your travel may be blended, but your expenses shouldn’t be.

This summer, more personalization will scale to our platform, giving companies the opportunity to fully customize the employee business travel experience on the Uber platform.

Travel smarter, not harder

Travel perks aren’t just for airlines and hotels anymore. We’re also experimenting with additional benefits, including exclusive Uber One membership promotions and the ability to earn personal perks, like Uber Cash, that reward employees for business travel. Business travelers can leverage the power of the Uber platform, using Uber Cash and membership discounts for personal rides and meals.

With Uber for Business, travelers can easily switch into a business mindset wherever they go. We’re continuously optimizing our platform in real time to level up business travel, from the jet bridge to the boardroom and everywhere in between.
