Cherie Okonski’s “The Secret of Gumper the Rabbit” was Displayed at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books

Cherie Okonskie’s “The Secret of Gumper the Rabbit” was displayed by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. The event, which is the largest literary festival in the country, celebrates works of literature and invites authors, readers, publishing companies, and book marketers from all over the country and the world. This year’s festival was held last April 22-23, 2023, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

“The Secret of Gumper the Rabbit” follows Gumper who was born different from all the other rabbits in the pet store. Gumper embarks on an adventure that will let him learn something remarkable.

Gumper has a best friend Oink, an easily frazzled guinea pig. With advice from his friend, Gumper learns lessons about being different while he unravels a secret. Gumper’s secret is now shared with the other bunnies before they venture out into the world. The secret should be able to guide them on how they could deal with what they encounter when they go into their new homes"

The illustrations in “The Secret of Gumper the Rabbit” will help children get immersed into Gumper’s world. The book also uses simple words to let children learn simple vocabulary and use them efficiently while also helping them to embrace their differences. They will learn that being different is okay and that it is okay to be themselves. This book will encourage them to appreciate their and other people’s differences.
