Kim Kesty’s “A Fall Event” was Displayed at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books

Kim Kesty’s “A Fall Event” was exhibited by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. The book festival took place at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, last April 22-23, 2023.

Kim Kesty brings young readers to the spooky and colorful season as he introduces to them the Fall season and Halloween.

“A Fall Event” is a fully illustrated book that is perfect for children from ages 5 to 9 years old. The readers are brought into the Fall when the environment becomes dark from the cloudy, windy, and cold. Kids will be able to understand the story as it uses simple words that practice their vocabulary. The illustrations also help the readers see what the words are talking about. The book shows how children, teens, and adults prepare for Fall and Halloween.

Young readers are shown what Fall looks like. Fall is a season when the leaves of the trees start to change in color, and the trees shed their leaves when the wind becomes colder, showing a shower of foliage in the air. The season is the time for Halloween as well.

“A Fall Event” also shows how Halloween is celebrated. Halloween is a fun-filled event that children look forward to every year. People get to be in costumes. They also make spooky designs that let the kids roam in costumes asking for candies.

The illustrations in the book set the mood as they prepare the kids for what will be done during this season. It shows pumpkins, a dark environment, and spooky costumes.

The author also gives a lesson as he gives a warning to young readers about the disguise that other people may be wearing. This fact could be scary for children as they will be enjoying the spooky season. For the parents, it is a fact that they still need to guide their children, so they can be safe while enjoying the season.

Kim Kesty was born in Minnesota and now lives in Oregon. He is a father of three and a grandfather of seven. He is a retired wastewater treatment operator for the city of Troutdale Oregon. He has also written five articles for the Troutdale Champion Newsletter on some of the processes his department performed for the community. He is also the author of “Buddy Spends the Night” and “Today Will Never Happen Again,” published by Fulton Books.
