Author Kathleen Ingfried Haskins Publishes a Biography of Her Friend Lee Raymond Blanchette

Kathleen Ingfried Haskins published a biography about her late friend Lee Raymond Blanchette, titled “The Unyielding Passion for Life of Lee Raymond Blanchette, a Remarkable Man”. The book tells the life of a man who helped people even though he also needed help. Through his struggles and suffering, he still managed to put his life back in order to change a bad habit.

The book revolves around the theme of friendship. Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people. It is about sharing a bond with someone or sharing common beliefs and values. Friendship is having someone inspire and challenge each other. Spending a lot of quality time with a friend can change someone’s life.

Lee Raymond Blanchette had big dreams, one of which was to be the first above-the-knee amputee to kayak the entire length of the Mississippi River by himself. He also wanted to swim with the dolphin, Winter, who has a prosthetic tail. Lee worked hard as a volunteer as an emergency medical service responder. He went out every night to help people in need.

A carpenter and an artist, Lee brought joy and enthusiasm to everything he did. He was a friendly person, making friends wherever he went even with store clerks and his doctors.

Lee struggled with residual limb pain and stump deterioration but even so, he still worked so hard. He found it hard to cope with his disabilities at first, so he drank alcohol to numb the pain he felt. The time came when he decided to change himself by becoming sober.

Currently, Kathleen lives in Minneapolis near Lake of the Isles, loves to go for walks and play her lap dulcimer, and visits her parents as often as she can.
