Helium Foundation, the nonprofit pioneering decentralized wireless for all globally, announced today that Brandyn Bissinger has joined the Foundation as Head of Communications. In this new role, Bissinger will lead the organization’s communications team, responsible for creating strategies to evangelize and strengthen decentralized wireless networks including the Helium ecosystem and Helium Foundation brands.

The Helium Network launched in 2019 and is the world’s largest decentralized wireless network in use today. Now powered by the Solana Blockchain, the network delivers affordable and universally secure wireless connectivity for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The recent Solana migration established a new era of scalability, expansion, and reliability for the entire ecosystem.

“The Foundation team is growing to match the incredible momentum of the network as a whole,” said Abhay Kumar, CEO of the Helium Foundation. “Brandyn is a fantastic addition to the team to help us continue to elevate the community and further the mission of decentralized wireless.”

The Helium Network has deployed nearly one million Hotspots since launch and has coverage in more than 77,000 towns and cities around the globe.

“For years, the Helium Foundation has been advocating for the people,” said Brandyn Bissinger, Head of Communications of the Helium Foundation. “I’m thrilled to join and help build the communications team as we continue the important mission of connecting everyone, everywhere.”

Brandyn Bissinger is a three-time Emmy award-winning journalist turned public relations, marketing and communications executive with more than two decades of experience.

Bissinger joins the Helium Foundation, having served as Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing at AST SpaceMobile, a space technology start-up, where she helped the business become publicly traded, securing 462 million dollars in funding and raising the brand’s visibility worldwide.

Prior to working at AST SpaceMobile, Bissinger was Vice President of Communications at The Meet Group, a global technology platform, where she shepherded communications for the public company that led to a successful 500 million dollar transaction in 2020. Before that, Bissinger held several leadership roles in the technology industry, including Director of Public Relations at AWeber - Email Marketing Software and Head of Marketing and Communications at Contour Data Solutions. At the start of her career, Bissinger worked for over a decade in the newsrooms of Philadelphia’s leading broadcast television stations.

In addition to Bissinger, the Helium Foundation team has doubled its headcount since last Fall.
