Patrick Pickett is a children’s book author who dreams of teaching timeless lessons to new generations. “Franklin the Fearless and His Greatest Treasure” follows two boys, Thomas and Matthew, whose father tells them about Franklin, the most fearless pirate in the seven seas.
Alas, Franklin has been in need of his own crew, and his little recruitment program keeps getting snagged by his own reputation.
To remedy this, Franklin begins boasting about the most amazing treasure he has and says he would share it with anyone willing to be his matey.
Yet before their father could finish his story, Thomas and Matthew had already fallen asleep. The following day, the two boys decided to play dress-up and scour the neighborhood for Franklin’s treasure.
Many pages of the book include colorful illustrations of the two kids visiting popular spots in their little suburb. But whether or not they found the treasure, only readers can tell!
Alongside teaching important values, Pickett wants his books to bring back a time when children used to read and let their imaginations take them on adventures. By getting a spot at the Festival of Books, he hopes more parents will rediscover the power of words in developing young minds.
