SB Nation Launches New Golf Community, Playing Through

SB Nation, Vox Media’s collection of sports communities, has announced the launch of Playing Through, a new community dedicated to covering the sport of golf. The Playing Through team will be sharing golf-related content across its site, as well as social media.

“Golf is currently in a pivotal moment. We see a ton of potential to cover this sport in a unique, community-driven way that only SB Nation can,” said John Ness, VP, Content at SB Nation. “Post-lockdowns, fans and pros are rethinking the rules, the fashion and voice of the game. We’re going to bring that discussion together.”

The new golf community builds on the recent excitement around golf. Vox Media Studios produced the recent hit series Full Swing on Netflix, which is currently shooting its second season. The first-of-its-kind documentary series follows the lives of professional golfers on and off the course during the PGA show. The first season helped bring a number of players to fame with participating players seeing a combined increase of nearly 1.4 million followers across social media.

SB Nation is the home of nearly 200 different fan-favorite sports communities reaching 30 million users per month (Comscore, March 2023). SB Nation’s loyal and engaged fans placed nearly 15 million comments across those communities in the past year. With Playing Through SB Nation makes its first foray into golf, and it will continue to grow and evolve how it reaches sports fans.
