Melita Wade Thorpe’s book “Ransom Theft Love: Journey from Zanzibar to Somalia” was last exhibited by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 London Book Fair. The book trade fair took place last April 18-20, 2023, at Olympia London, London, UK.

“Ransom Theft Love” tells the story of Dr. Anne Wadsworth’s journey from Zanzibar to Somalia, Africa. Anne traveled from San Francisco and London to Nairobi. She had been leading travelers across the immense grasslands of Africa for years. She was asked to be the keynote speaker at the Human Rights Convention in Zanzibar. Little did she know that her second home was going to become a destination of an international nightmare.

On the first pages of the book, the readers follow Anne as she goes to the Anglican Landmark to attend services at Christ Church Cathedral. The first pages show how the author describes the African landscape and historical places. Anne was moved when she learned about the history of the cathedral, which was built on top of the largest slave market in the world to celebrate the end of slavery. Along her journey, she realizes that she was brought to Africa for a purpose.

The story turns into an unexpected twist when Anne was kidnapped by unfamiliar raiders. The raiders took Anne as a prisoner as they journeyed from Zanzibar to Somalia. Anne’s life was at risk after a series of horrific events during the venture. She realized the bigger problem that was even more important than her survival, and it was to save the country that she loved.
