San Diego, California, USA – WEBWIRE

This fabulous novel is about life, love, and the pursuit of sanity as a new surgical resident navigates his way into an inner-city hospital.

Irv Danesh’s “Doctor Brooklyn: Love & Life at the End of a Knife” was exhibited by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 London Book Fair. The book trade fair occurred last April 18-20, 2023, at Olympia London, London, UK.

The author, who also wrote “The Loco Life of Doctor Taco,” published another humorous medical fiction book, “Doctor Brooklyn: Love & Life at the End of a Knife.” The book follows the story of a young man named Zach Maxwell. Zach Maxwell just finished his medical education. However, he did not do so well on his board exam.

Zach was a hardworking student. He values patient care and gives extra hours in the hospital wards than the rest of the medical students do. Zach applies only to the top programs in the country because of the good-looking nurses who seem to love surgeons.

The Pope Andreas Yiddish Hospital is the world’s largest charity institution for the delivery of healthcare. Zach thinks that there has to be some mistake, for the hospital is situated in the highest crime section of Brooklyn. It is Zach’s last chance for a residency or to do nothing for the whole year. Besides, he needs to pay his debts. Zach got his applications rejected, so he wounds up at a hospital that serves a very dangerous neighborhood and has a history of lousy programs.

Follow Zach Maxwell as he learns and progresses in his career, life, and love in an unusual environment. Order a copy of the book “Doctor Brooklyn: Love & Life at the End of a Knife” by Irv Danesh on Amazon and Barnes & Noble

Author Bio

Dr. Irv Danesh was born in Brooklyn, New York. Before he started college, he and his family had schlepped to five new homes because of his father’s jobs. This was to be the recurrent theme throughout his life. Like the main character of his first novel Doctor Taco, Irv just didn’t concentrate well in college. Women, and the lack of them, had a lot to do with that. After the rejections for admission to medical schools in the States arrived, Irv journeyed south of the border.

Two years of cultural and academic re-education enabled Irv to trek back to the promised land of Brooklyn. More specifically, Irv was nurtured at the world’s largest community hospital, Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. This mega-hospital provided him with enough stab wounds, gunshot wounds, blunt trauma, and general patient stupidity to regale his friends with stories for years to come. After two years of surgical training, he decided he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life removing gallbladders or doing bariatric surgery. Being somewhat of an adrenaline junkie, he was in the right place at the right time to snag a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the new field of Emergency Medicine. He has practiced in inner-city Emergency Departments for forty years.

Dr. Irv’s job statistically has a high rate of burnout. He fought through two of these periods, the first by moving to Boston and serving as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Tufts School of Medicine. He continued his career as Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts. It was here that he had his second period of burnout. He again was in the right place at the right time, helping birth USA Network’s hit TV show Royal Pains.

Doctor Danesh can now be found happily retired in South Beach where he spends his time with his grammatically correct wife, Fanny and enjoying the sun rising over the ocean in the morning.
