lululemon has announced the promotions of two members of its Senior Leadership Team to Executive Vice Presidents within the organization—Susan Gelinas to Chief People & Culture Officer, and Shannon Higginson to Chief Legal and Compliance Officer—reflecting their significant and lasting contributions to lululemon’s business and culture.

Susan Gelinas joined lululemon in 2011 and has steadily increased her responsibilities to lead its global People & Culture organization through a transformational period, as the company grew from approximately 5,000 employees primarily in North America in 2011 to more than 30,000 employees around the world today.

At lululemon, Ms. Gelinas has held the roles of Senior Vice President, People & Culture; Vice President, Health & Wealth; and Director, Health & Wealth. Before joining lululemon, Ms. Gelinas was a Senior Consultant at Towers Watson.

Shannon Higginson joined lululemon in 2011 as one of two members of lululemon’s legal team, and most recently served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Today, Ms. Higginson oversees legal affairs and compliance globally, leading a team of nearly 60 members.

Prior to joining lululemon, Ms. Higginson served as Senior Counsel of Canadian telecommunications company TELUS and was previously an associate at a Vancouver-based law firm. She earned her JD from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.

“Susan and Shannon are exceptional leaders who care deeply for our people. It is fitting that both are being recognized at the same time, given their ongoing and incredible partnership—together and with our senior leadership team—which has led to supporting our people and our business,” said Calvin McDonald, CEO of lululemon. “I’d like to congratulate Susan and Shannon on their well-deserved promotions, and thank them for their invaluable contributions.”

In addition to their day-to-day responsibilities, Ms. Gelinas and Ms. Higginson have been instrumental in the creation and scaling of initiatives that support lululemon’s people, guests, and communities, including the company’s commitment to pay equity, the launch of its Parenthood program, and the establishment of its Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Action (IDEA) commitments.
