“TNT: The Dynamic Duo” by Marguerite Anderson tells the story of the friendship between TNT Tony and Tim Dynamite’s friendship. It also includes the back story of the two best friends before they met and after they met. This young adult fiction shows how true friendship develops over time through triumphs and tragedies. The book highlights the importance of trust and loyalty and expresses the love of family and friendship.

Anthony “Tone Jordan and Tim” Anderson are neighbors in Durham, North Carolina. They had been best friends since junior high school and played basketball since they met. The two best friends ended up with so many nicknames, such as awesome twosome and dynamic duo. In high school, they were called TNT Tony and Tim Dynamite. In their senior year, as High School Jaguars, they won their first state championship.

Marguerite Anderson wrote an enjoyable story inspired by her teaching experience as a third-grade and college teacher. She is also an advisor to cheerleaders, color guard, and coach of the track. Some characters are based on some of her student’s characteristics, trials, and troubles. Young adults who go through the same experiences as Tony and Tim will find the story relatable.

About the Author
Marguerite Anderson was born and raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, home of little league baseball. She earned a B.S. and M.S. in Special Education and an M.Ed. in Habilitative Sciences.

Anderson taught public school for thirty-five years in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Her experience ranges from teaching third grade to teaching at the college level. However, most of her years of teaching were at the high school level.

During her experience, she was an advisor to cheerleaders, color guard, and coach of the track. It was during these times that she observed children or teenagers go through many personal trials and tribulations, some of which ended up better than others. Her writings are based on students whom she knew and worked with in different capacities.

This book is based on some of those students. None of the characteristics match one person. She took a little of this and a little of that to make the characters depicted in the book.
