Linksys Enhances Sip-Based LVS Business Series Desktop IP Phone Family

WEBWIRE

From the Spring 2007 VON Show, Linksys®, a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., the recognized leading provider of voice, wireless and networking hardware for consumer, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and small business users, today announced two new products to the Linksys Voice System (LVS) Business Series line: the Linksys 6-Line Color Display IP Desktop Phone (SPA962) and the Linksys 32-Button Attendant Console (SPA932).

These new Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) phone solutions provide high quality and multiple features designed specifically for small businesses that are using a hosted IP telephony service, a SIP-based IP PBX (like the Linksys IP PBX SPA9000), or a large scale IP Centrex deployment.

“Voice protocols in the home and office are converging and Service Providers are moving to deploying SIP-based VoIP solutions, said Sherman Scholten, Linksys director of product management, Consumer Business Organization. “Our voice solutions have been tested to ensure comprehensive interoperability with equipment from leading VoIP infrastructure leaders enabling service providers to offer competitive, feature rich services to their customers.”

6-Line Color Display IP Desktop Phone (SPA962)
As the sixth IP Phone addition to the LVS line of Business Series products, the SPA962 incorporates features for executives and office receptionists, including:

Six Active, Independently Programmable Lines/Accounts
Configurable Four-Inch, 320X240 True Color Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
Dual-Switched Ethernet Ports with Power over Ethernet
Standards-based Call Security
Dozens of other features can be found at: www.linksys.com/spa962
Utilizing the same industry leading administration features as other Linksys award-winning VoIP products, the SPA962 provides an open interface and enables support personnel to save time and money by quickly integrating Linksys products into their networks. Secure remote configuration, monitoring, testing and troubleshooting capabilities make the product ideal for any size deployment.

32-Button Attendant Console (SPA932)
The Linksys SPA932 32-Button Attendant Console (also known as a Side Car) for the SPA962 IP Phone is an ideal solution for businesses users wanting to simplify incoming call handling to quickly direct calls to the requested party and also monitor line status from a central location.

Easily attached to the SPA962 IP Phone, the SPA932 provides 32 programmable speed-dial or direct station select (DSS) buttons. Each button illuminates the status of the line (idle, ringing, busy, or null) via the busy lamp field (BLF). Incoming calls received can be immediately transferred to the proper location with only the push of a button assigned to the extension on the SPA932. Two additional attendant consoles can be deployed, offering a total of 64 additional buttons.

Version 5.1 Firmware Update

New features for Linksys the LVS family are available free of charge with its Version 5.1 Firmware Update, available now at www.linksys.com. The firmware update can be managed remotely by support personnel via an automated, secure remote upgrade and provides the following standards-based enhancements to the products:

Globalization of menu display with configurable language selection on SPA922, SPA942, and SPA962
Increased SIP call signaling reliability using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
Advanced SIP call signaling security using Transport Layer Security (TLS)
On-demand VoIP quality testing and troubleshooting via IP Media Loopback
Preventative recovery from network failures via enhancements to SIP Register Retry and DHCP Renewal Algorithms
Increased Robustness of SIP interoperability via challenge of initial SIP Invite and Message Waiting indication notifications
Pricing and Availability
The Linksys IP Desktop Phone (SPA962) and Attendant Console (SPA932) are scheduled to be available beginning in the second quarter of 2007 through Linksys U.S. Distribution partners, including Ingram Micro, Tech Data, and D&H Distributing at estimated street prices of $319.99 and $99.99 respectively.
