“ANSELM” to be shown in Special Screening / “PERFECT DAYS” IN COMPETITION

In “ANSELM,” produced by Road Movies, Wim Wenders draws a stunning portrait of one of the world’s most acclaimed visual artists: Anselm Kiefer. Taking us on a 3D journey through Kiefer’s stations of life and places of creation, Wenders guides us behind the scenes and into the conceptual world of one of the most innovative and important artists of our time – an artist who has been exploring the human condition and the cyclical nature of history through a wide range of themes and motifs. This unique cinematic experience dives deep into Kiefer’s oeuvre, bringing together the strings of a career spanning more than five decades between his native country Germany and France, his creative home today.

“PERFECT DAYS”, Wim Wenders’ latest feature film, produced by MASTER MIND LIMITED in collaboration with Wenders Images and shot in Japan, will have its international premiere as part of the Competition of the upcoming 76th Festival de Cannes. The film is based upon a screenplay written by Wim Wenders and Takuma Takasaki and follows Hirayama, who seems utterly content with his simple life as a cleaner of toilets in Tokyo. Outside of his very structured everyday routine, he enjoys his passion for music and for books. And he loves trees and takes photos of them. A series of unexpected encounters gradually reveal more of his past. The role of Hirayama is performed by the wonderful Kōji Yakusho, protagonist of SHALL WE DANCE (1996), BABEL (2006) and many other films.
