Jacques LaFrance’s Colorful Details of Heaven to Be Exhibited at the 2023 L.A. Times Festival of Books

The L.A. Times Festival of Books 2023, which will take place on April 22-23, 2023, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, celebrates literature with book exhibits on a wide range of topics, including various religions. Among Christian writers, however, Dr. Jacques LaFrance does an extensive job on a favorite topic with his book “Heaven Is Beyond Imagination: The music, beauty, waters, flowers, joy, peace, love, relationships, and more, described by fifty published eyewitnesses.”

Taking the eyewitness testimonies of 50 people who through temporary death experiences or otherwise experienced the heavenly realm firsthand, he puts them all together to form a picture of heaven that is more detailed than other books on the subject. Each chapter in “Heaven Is Beyond Imagination” breaks the features of heaven into distinct areas. The first chapters describe the most common means LaFrance’s eyewitnesses reached God’s paradise (such as some form of a tunnel, a beam of light, immediate arrivals, etc) and their immediate experiences and first impressions of heaven.

Other chapters after then discuss the features of heaven that had been mentioned in Scripture (such as the heavenly gates, the city of God, etc). The book even has accounts describing heaven’s more natural features, such as the kind of plants that could be found, what rivers there looked and felt like, what the sky in heaven is like compared to Earth, children, animals, pets, and more.

Of course, perhaps the most touching accounts can be found in the chapters dedicated to direct encounters with Jesus, as well as past loved ones.

The book is actually the third in a series that Dr. LaFrance had been working on since he had put the first 18 eyewitness accounts together. Since then, the vision he presents gets only bigger and bigger. Yet all the same, his main purpose for the book is to simply teach people that something wonderful awaits those who live close to God.

Author Bio
Dr. LaFrance’s life consisted of a triple thread: science, having taught computer science for 27 years before retiring, nature study as an amateur naturalist, and a follower of Jesus. Combining these has led to several studies of how science actually confirms the Creator of the universe and life (though none of these have led to published materials). He has also had several experiences dealing with forgiveness that have led to a document and presentation that has blessed many people, especially in his church. His only published books are A Composite Portrait of Heaven, its successor Heaven Is Amazing!, and the current “Heaven Is Beyond Imagination.” These books take published eyewitness accounts of heaven and synthesize them into a whole more complete experience of what heaven is like. The first was based on eighteen testimonies, the second on thirty-four, and the current on fifty plus nineteen eyewitnesses of hell. For him, God is amazing and wonderful and the more people live in close harmony with Him, the more wonderful their lives are. The goal of his writing is to share the insights God has given him to enable people to live closer to Him, enjoy Him more, know how much they can trust Him, and live in accord with what life here is all about, knowing the glorious and love-filled future that awaits everyone.
