The fairytale fable follows the formula of a cruel character cursed into the guise of another creature. The other formula is combating the curse using the power of true love. The author uses the dragon and the rat to be metaphors for cruelty, disgust, and horror in a children’s book. Kids can learn the values of camaraderie and kindness in the characters’ adventure.
