Norman Stock Presents “Pickled Dreams Naked,” a Poetry Collection That Will Certainly Appeal to Literary and Poetry Enthusiasts

Jackson Heights, NY – WEBWIRE

Norman Stock’s second book of poetry, [i"Pickled Dreams Naked,”[/i] collects poems written since or not included in his prizewinning debut book, “Buying Breakfast for my Kamikaze Pilot.” In free verse and prose poems, they unflinchingly depict emotional and intellectual honesty about himself, as well as bizarre fantasies, and are replete with often uproarious humor. The author has expressed hope that the book will enrich the literary and poetry communities and will be enjoyed by general readers as well. Norman also feels that the book can benefit modern society by enabling people to more freely express their feelings and views through poetry.

In this book the poems are often set in a world of bizarre fantasies, where animals can talk and magic is real. This provides an interesting perspective for exploring themes of love, loss, and identity. Stock’s writing is not only funny and clever, but also poignant and thought-provoking. One example of a poem that deals with these themes is “Put Up or Shut Up,” which is all about spending your money wisely and keeping your mouth shut. This will assist you in breaking the bank where your money grows and the river where your mouth runs over its banks, but will eventually destroy you until you are left with nothing. Another poem, “As a Fat Man Turning,” depicts an obese man’s emotional struggle, who turns to his shadow and says: “I know I am fat, but still I am;” with a mix of pride and sadness.

The poem “What I Said,” which is an emotional response and reflection on 9/11, has been reprinted in books, textbooks, and anthologies, as have several other of his poems.

“Pickled Dreams Naked” is sure to appeal to fans of poetry, fantasy, and humor. It’s a collection of bizarre and hilarious poems that will make you think about love, loss, and identity in new ways.
