Barely a year after we opened the first station in La Chapelle Saint-Luc, in the car park of the Troyes hypermarket, Carrefour now has over a hundred charging stations.

Carrefour has just reached the milestone of 100 electric vehicle charging stations. That makes it the first network of terminals in France with more than 850 charging points – half of which are high-power ones (up to 300 kW) – across the whole country.

Carrefour Énergies – committed to electrifying France’s regions

Carrefour Énergies was launched in April 2022 and has equipped over a hundred hypermarkets with electric charging terminals. It wants to add another 200 stores to this tally before the end of this year. By rolling out stations throughout the country – both in urban and rural areas – the retailer is helping to bring electric mobility to France, enabling as many people as possible to access a new local service, powered by 100% green energy.

To meet this ambitious aim, the retailer has teamed up with two leading partners – Allego and Driveco. They are responsible for building and operating the charging infrastructure. For the past year now, Allego has been installing terminals for Carrefour hypermarkets and will be opening 100 new stations over the next 12 months. Driveco has just started fitting out supermarkets and has just opened its first two stations in the car parks of Carrefour’s Vire and Estaires Market stores. It wants to have 600 by 2025, particularly in small and medium-sized towns.

“Barely a year after we opened the first station in La Chapelle Saint-Luc, in the car park of the Troyes hypermarket, Carrefour now has over a hundred charging stations. In order to reach our target of 5000 charging points and 800 stations between now and 2025, we are going to pick up the pace even more, opening an average of nearly 30 new stations every month! Thanks to all the efforts of Carrefour Énergies’ teams and those of our partners, we are rolling out a network of charging terminals boasting a unique level of regional coverage, so as many of our customers as possible can use them,”

Bringing electric mobility to everyone

With these new stations, Carrefour Énergies is providing its users with a charging service for all types of mobility – ranging from comfort charging (22 kW) to rapid and ultra-rapid charging (50 to 300 kW), which will fully charge a battery in 20 to 60 minutes, depending on vehicle type. There are also charging solutions for soft mobility transport modes.

Carrefour Énergies wants to maximise its customers’ purchasing power and so is also giving away one hour’s worth of 22-kW charging for all loyalty card or Carrefour PASS card holders. That’s a customer benefit worth between €3 and €6.  Under this scheme, more than 65,000 charging hours have already been given away for free to users since the first station was opened.
