Blondella James Brown’s Touching Book On Incarcerated Loved Ones Will Be Displayed at the L.A. Times Festival of Books 2023

The problems surrounding America’s prison system and incarceration are known worldwide, and for Blondella James Brown, it is also a deeply spiritual problem. Her book, “Go and Tell My Child to Let Me Go,” shares her story as a mother of an incarcerated son and how she remembered that God’s power and forgiveness are still greater than one’s failures. The book will be exhibited by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

“To my loving son, whom I love dearly and who will always be welcomed home.”

The L.A. Times Festival of Books will take place on April 22-23, 2023, at the University of Southern California. Among the countless books that will be exhibited, there are books that focus on America’s hot-button social issues and current problems.

For Blondella James Brown, however, the problems found in the U.S. prison system aren’t just big; they are also sources of great shame and great spiritual bondage. These and other reflections are shared in her book, “Go and Tell My Child to Let Me Go.

“Go and Tell My Child to Let Me Go” talks about her own experience of having a son who landed in prison despite all her attempts to raise him in a good Christian home, send him to study at a Christian school, and surround him with positive influences. She had directly experienced the massive disappointment, guilt, and shame that came with it all.

Yet through the midst of it, she also learned that such feelings are just tools that Satan uses to keep people in bondage. The experience taught her to have stronger faith in God’s forgiveness and that His power is greater than any personal failure. Through her book, she hopes to teach the same to other parents under similarly unfortunate circumstances.

Today, the author is a volunteer chaplain in prison ministry. The book also has helpful guidelines for others who might feel called to serve in prison ministries.
