EPA Announces Over $30 Million Coming to Puerto Rico to Upgrade Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Infrastructure

Last month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced over $30,000,000 to Puerto Rico through this year’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The funding will support local communities in upgrading essential water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure that protects public health and water bodies.
The investment is to be used for replacing or repairing aging wastewater infrastructure, implementing water reuse and recycling, addressing stormwater and addressing the risks from emerging contaminants according to the agency. In 2022, EPA announced more than $78 million dollars in funds were slated to arrive that year in Puerto Rico, also for water infrastructure projects.
