A Humorous Medical Fiction Book by Irv Danesh Will Be Displayed at the 2023 London Book Fair

The humorous medical fiction book “The Loco Life of Doctor Taco” by Irv Danesh, MD, will be displayed by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the London Book Fair, which will be held on April 18-20, 2023, at Olympia London, Hammersmith Road, London, W14 8UX UK.

“The Loco Life of Doctor Taco” is a unique coming-of-age tale about Sam, a man-child who dislikes studying and spends his time wistfully thinking about the love of his life. He hopes to one day become a heroic doctor like the ones portrayed in movies and TV shows.

Unfortunately, even his organic chemistry professor won’t write him a letter of recommendation. The admissions committees at medical schools south of the border are less choosy than those at Harvard Medical School.

Like the book’s main character, Doctor Taco, author Irv Danesh struggled to focus academically in college. That was primarily due to the absence or lack of women. He wrote Doctor Taco as a fictional account of the great American student exodus to Mexico in the 1970s. Some of the events actually occurred, but others had to be changed to protect people’s (and sometimes his own) privacy.

Doctor Irv Danesh was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in five different homes due to his father’s jobs. He didn’t concentrate well in college, so he joined the diaspora of slacker pre-meds and journeyed south of the border. After two years of surgical training, he decided he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life removing gallbladders or doing bariatric surgery. He was in the right place at the right time to snag a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in the new field of emergency medicine. He practiced in inner-city emergency departments for forty years.

Dr. Irv’s job statistically has a high burnout rate. Still, he fought through two of these periods by moving to Boston and serving as an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Tufts School of Medicine. He also helped birth USA Network’s hit TV series, Royal Pains, where he was a medical consultant and co-producer. He lives in South Beach enjoying the sunny warmth with his lovely and grammatically correct wife.
