Dennis Joiner’s Book Introduces “System Thinking” Critique at the London Book Fair

With inclusivity and diversity as keynote themes, the London Book Fair 2023 is expected to feature many books from authors who discuss these topics in-depth. Among them is former IT professional turned-author Dennis Joiner, who wrote the book “Let the Playing Field Level The Playing Field.”

Like many concerned thinkers, Joiner wants to address the challenge of inequality in America. But rather than just write a book reflecting on the usual suspects, such as racism, prejudice, and culture wars, Joiner probes deeper.

Using the new “system thinking” approach to seeing the world’s problems, he gets down to the root of it all in his new book “Let the Playing Field Level The Playing Field.”

Joiner describes his book as “a thorough understanding of America’s political socioeconomic playing field.” The book presents a future where the current injustices will inevitably crumble away in a ‘dynamic transformative social epiphenomena.’ This event, while not instantaneous in any way, is described as a combination of scientific, technological, and ideological progress.

One central idea in the book is how ignorance and fear are the true root causes of prejudice, racism, and other problems that keep America’s playing field uneven. It avoids discussing the opposition to today’s progressive and social justice movements as some band of amoral monsters. Rather, the opposition is comprised of people frightened of something, such as the loss of privilege, the destruction of their lives, etc.

This fear maintains the ignorance that people cling to and traps them in the many problematic ideas still rocking American society. Despite it all, though, Joiner posits that fear and ignorance will not prevail against knowledge. He sees that the playing field will inevitably right itself.

Dennis Joiner studied mathematics and computer science at the Southern Illinois University and shares his “system thinking” critique of American society and his vision of a future, where humans have evolved to become gnostic beings free from every grief and pain that comes from evil. He had a computer systems and information technology career in innovative information technology (IT) research and development.

Since his retirement in 2016, he has been able to devote more time to writing and expanding his knowledge by reading social commentary books. Dennis is a critical system thinker and seeks to explain away a world of illusions.
