Book Critics Praised Mark Katzman’s “Home” for its Precise and Balanced Prose

Mark Katzman’s “Home” combines edge-of-the-seat thrills, explosive plot, and characterization. Katzman’s choice of words and clever language makes his latest novel hard to put down.

The suspense book begins with an unnamed young man returning home from a “clinic.” Unusual hosts, who might or might not be his parents, greet him. His thinking is clouded. Nothing is certain. They keep giving him medications, which make him have hallucinations. Following his poisoning of the couple, the trio spends the evening partying. They dance, sing, toot horns, and play dress-up, aside from the possibility that they are still alive and the entire tale is being concocted by a woman the young man observes writing through a window from a room in the house next door.

Bookworms describe the book as a weird yet wonderful page-turning book. The Blue Ink Review shared a head-on and honest review of Mark Katzman’s book. In particular, the review-giving body commended Katzman’s poignant imagery.

“The power of Katzman’s novelette rests not in the plot if there is one, but in the poeticism of the prose, each line balanced, precise, and landing like an arrow,” the article stated.

The book promises to make its readers laugh while occasionally being shocked by its dark comedy. Its Kafkaesque nature will prompt readers to prepare for a transcendental experience. Mark Katzman is a well-rounded creative who dabbles in different art forms. He is a writer, musician, and editor. In 2021, Mark received an award from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri, for his full-length play, “Henny & Harry.”
